Excitement is in the air. Our campaigning is seeing great success, and we are registering new Republican votes 2 to 1 over new Democrat voters. The demographics are changing in Hoke County, and we invite you all to come out and get involved. Only through continued hard work can we realize the change we all want to see in the county.

Hoke Animal Welfare Warriors Update

Group members spoke at commissioner meetings starting in April and finally saw some success at the June 5th meeting. After presentations by three members, the commissioners voted to put together a list of potential animal welfare committee members from the community, law enforcement, and the shelter. They also agreed to add the issue to their August agenda in hopes of ironing out some of the details about a pilot program for pet responsibility in the schools.

Swarbrick believes this is a great first step for animals in Hoke County but warns that this is only the beginning. Volunteers for several of the programs need to be recruited, and the commissioners need to appoint the committees and fund the projects.

The welfare group also visits the local shelter and works in the community to help people with animal issues and to raise awareness for the proper way to care for pets.

If anyone would like more information or to become involved, please contact: Melissa Swarbrick at (910) 603-1701 or Swarbrick.melissa@gmail.com
