The Longleaf Pine Realtors association held a forum Tuesday Oct 30, 2018 at Rockfish Church on 401. All five Hoke Commissioner Candidates were invited and two did not respond ( Tony Hunt and Harry Southerland ), Cliff Overby was invited and sent in their questionnaire but did not attend forum. David Frump and current Commissioner Allen Thomas showed up to hear from folks on community issues that affect citizens, homeowners, realtors and businesses in Hoke and Cumberland Counties. Issues brought up were about home values, development, dilapidated buildings, orphan roads, DOT issues, county web site problems, electronic deeds and plats, schools, school board, commissioner meetings, county long term plan growth, overcrowded schools, new schools, hiring practices, appearance of corruptness, SBI Investigation, failed Ethanol Plant, open government, county reputation, zoning, tax forgiveness, parks and recreation, agriculture building, sewer system and Sheriff’s Department. Approximately 15 people showed up to hear from the candidates moderated by Wendy Harris of Harris Real Estate and she is the 2018 Legislative Chair for the organization and Angie Hedgepeth the Government Affairs Director for the association set the event up.
