North Carolina kids are facing serious food shortage issues. Hoke county is one of the poorest counties in the state with hundreds of children suffering from food insecurity or homelessness. Backpack buddies is a local hunger relief program for children in grades k-5 who do not have enough to eat on the weekends. This program currently supports 3 Hoke County elementary schools and needs our help in securing funds to supply these kids with meals throughout the summer and upcoming new school year.
